WindSonic sensor measures

  • Wind speed
  • Wind direction

Units of measure

  • kt, m/s, km/h, mph, ft/min

Accuracy

  • Speed ±2% of reading
  • Direction ±3º

Range

  • Speed 0.1 to 60 m/s
  • Direction 0 to 360º (no dead band)

The WindSonic wind speed and direction sensor is based on proven ultrasonic technology from Gill Instruments.

It provides many advantages over conventional cup anemometers and vane sensors.

There are three sensor options with different outputs:

  • WindSonic 1 - RS232 output
  • WindSonic 2 - RS232 or RS422/RS485 output
  • WindSonic 3 - RS232 or RS422/RS485 and analogue outputs

The WindSonic sensors are ideal for use with our WS-15A display unit and our WindLogger data logger.

We can provide a mounting mast and configuration cable (WindSonic RS232 cable) to assist installation.

WindSonic ultrasonic sensor benefits:

  • No moving parts
  • Low start up speed (0.02m/s)
  • True 0 to 360º operation
  • Single unit for both wind speed and direction
  • 3 sensor options depending on output
